I'm running Debian unstable on an Ultra 5. Here is my lspci output: ultra:~# lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Sun Microsystems Computer Corp. Ultra IIi 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Sun Microsystems Computer Corp. It's got the built in ethernet card and I added an Intel 10/100 nic. They both work, this box acts as my router/gateway. Maybe your riser card is to blame? Have you tried another nic? For the record, I don't have /proc/sys/kernel/modprobe either: ultra:~# file /proc/sys/kernel/modprobe /proc/sys/kernel/modprobe: can't stat `/proc/sys/kernel/modprobe' (No such file or directory).
