I don't know about 2.4 kernels. 2.6 works if you use alsa with alsa oss-emu and the sun cs4231 alsa module. Native alsa doesn't work on sparc64 yet (some problem with ioctl's), but if all apps are set to oss and you use alsa oss emu, things should work for most apps. For xmms / beep-media-player, you should use esd though, as xmms / beep with oss output only produces very loud noise. I didn't care to file a bug as oss is depricated and the whole oss emu thing is a work around for the alsa bug anyway. Admar
