We have found that some systems are fine with later 2.6 kernels (say, in the 2.6.15 series) and some are not. sparc32 systems are a problem; U1/U2 systems routinely "crash under heavy disk I/O", U60 now seem fine, SB1000 is fine, I think U5/U10 are OK, and so on.
