I understand Adrian’s points which are valid (especially regarding the kernel).
The point is that we have already discovered a bug that affects almost all
SPARC variants and we
know it's causing these crashes. This is why I was asking you to test this
patch as I'm 99% sure
it will fix those crashes.
You can just cross-compile the kernel from x86_64 using the kernel toolchain:

I also understand some dislike systemd (understandable as well).
The systemd discussion has already been held ad nauseam which is why I would
like to avoid the
discussion on this list. If someone doesn't want to use systemd, they're free
to do so. But
please let's not have that flame war here.
Just keep it simple. Get a single-user mode situation with a shell.
Nothing else. That means reduce ALL other noise sources from the
signal. Don't get all sensitive about SystemD.
