Strange that it was empty. Did you check the actual X log itself at /var/log/XFree86.0.log? It's hard to say from the info you give, but it seems to me that you probably have X not configured. Where you asked a bunch of display- related questions when installing? If not (well, you can try in any case), try this as root in a shell: "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
