Ok, so now we know it's really a bug... how do one reports this? Is there a person to contact specifically about bugs found running the net installer? a generic debian bug report e-mail? Any developer reading this list?
I've tried to understand how to file a bug report (also because of reopening the bug of no optimizaed kernel being chosen) but I'm lost with all the info I got:
write to debian-bugs-dist mailing list, mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] using the installation report, mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] but nou using the installation report as it seems difficult to apply to these situations, mail directly to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" to reopen the bug... ?

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem! But as I do a log of changes and fine tuning myself, I thought it was something I've done...
You may change it to one of the right values in /etc/environment
Look at the package "locales" for more information on this and other related variables. You may also look at http://www.ia.pw.edu.pl/~wujek/dokumentacja/gnu/libc/libc_19.html

After installing debian with the sarge net installer, I get this weird value set on my "LANGUAGE" variable
LANGUAGE=en_PT:en_US:en_GB:en
I have no ideia where does this variable is used, but AFAIK there is no such thing as "en_PT", the correct value is "pt_PT".
What is this variable for, anyway? One thing that crosses my mind is the browser language configuration... is it? Or/and maybe something else?
Oh, btw, I have a clue of from where does this value comes from: I like my system in english, so I choose "english" as the language, and then I have to find "Portugal" where one needs to select it's location... maybe the "en" + "PT" comes from those 2 choices...

Ps: Should I be posting this to this ML or to another one? Which one?
