Additionally, I just accidentally rebooted my main system (that was being used 
to load 
the USB stick) off the USB stick. Using expert26 it booted normally (taking 
much 
less time at the slow points I mentioned, though this system has HD, FD, CDROM 
so 
that may be the difference).

When it went to look for the ISO file, it found it on the HD and prepared to 
install 
from it.

Apparently my boot USB is either failing to find the ISO file on the USB stick 
or just 
not looking there in the first place.
