Seems that X's <backspace>/<del> got changed along the slink frozen tree. I remember it used to work without any problems. Now in some programs, ie. less, <backspace> gives me ^H and <del> works as backspace should. According to Debian policy, <del> is supposed to be ^[[3~ and <backspace> is supposed to be ^?. ^H is not to be used. kbd sets the key bindings correctly on my virtual consoles.
