I looked up the bug report: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/db/34/34328.html
In there it said something like: >Using an AHA 2940UW Bios v1.25 gives: > > (scsi0) <Adaptec AHA-294X Ultra SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 13/0 > (scsi0) Wide Channel, SCSI ID=3D7, 16/255 SCBs > (scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 419 instructions downloaded > >Using an AHA-2940AU Bios v1.30: > > (scsi0) <Adaptec AHA-2940A Ultra SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 13/0 > (scsi0) Narrow Channel, SCSI ID=3D7, 3/255 SCBs > (scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 419 instructions downloaded I resently did an install on an Transtac box, with a double aic7xxx something on the motherboard. The 2.0.36 kernel based resc.disc did fail like that, but when I put a vanilla 2.2.4 kernel on the resc.disc it did succed and I could finish the install. Also the SuSE made kernel based on 2.0.36 also worked. So whatever didn't work on 2.0.36 is fixed with 2.2.4 for this motherboard, and also SuSE made something work for 2.0.36. I found a patch on ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/kernels/people/alan/2.0.37pre/2.0.37/2.0.37-pre-patch-3.gz It gives an working kernel, but I don't know if it solves the problem.
