I installed Debian potato on an SGI1450 today. Flawless except that the on board ethernet controller was not detected (but it had two additional ethernet interfaces).
Also I observed after rebooting that hiting enter when the root disc is requested and still having the rescue disc in there, it is recognized that it is the wrong disc.
