I suspect there are many who have this (or a similar) problem. I occasionally get lockups in X (this has happened long before woody) and can't get back to a console because the keyboard won't respond. Sometimes I can ssh from another computer and reboot, but too often the only option is to hit the reset button. Occasionally a text console will not respond, but in that case I have always been able to switch to a different one. I suspect the two problems are not related. Bob Nielsen
