I'm quite convinced that the Cyrus 2.1 server is OK, we've had it running on this site for a couple of weeks with no _real_ hiccups. However, for saslauthd, /var/run/saslauthd/ needs to be owned by mail.mail rather than root. It took me some time to work that out :)
