[...] I had another try. > I need the rtl8139 kernel module That's what the automatic detection says. But it looks like it's wrong. I tried to select "8139too" from the list, but that failed with an error message like "An error has occured". After some looking around and trying to modprobe the module by hand, I found that it searches in /kernel, not in /lib/modules/something. Ok, now loading of the 8139too module worked. Setting up a static network also seems to have worked without errors. In the absence of ping I have no real way to check however. Meanwhile I had installed a basic Debian system with the woody installer on that system. So I tried to "Configure and mount partitions" again. That seemed to work. At least there was no error. But "Install the base system" printed "Failed getting release files" and told me to look at /target/var/log/debootstrap.log and debootstrap.err.log. Both files exist but are empty. Bye, Henning
