acrescenta este repositorio :
# xorg backport
deb http://people.debian.org/~nobse/xorg-x11/ sarge main
apt-get update
apt-get install xserver-xorg
No final da instalação se vc já possui xfree,
ele vai portar a configuração para o xorg.
eu não tive nenhum problema com dependências fazendo dessa forma.
inclusive recebi a dica através desse forum.
