-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 After the very useful discussion on sarge vs sid, I downloaded the sid installer and tried to set it up on a Dell desktop with a 3Com 3C905C-Tx card.
When it tries to detect the network, I get the message "Error while running modprobe -v aic7xxx I tried to continue. When it reached the network configuration, DHCP configuration failed. I did a manual setup, rechecked the parameters and tried to continue. I then got the message "An error occurred and the network configuration has been aborted. You may retry it from the installation main menu." I tried to continue. When it reached the point of detecting hardware, I again got the message "Error while running modprobe -v aic7xxx" I'm stuborn, but it was obvious at this point that Debian wasn't going to install. There isn't anything esoteric on this system - and the network card is well supported under Linux. I am going to submit an installation report, but does anyone know what might correct this?: -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFA2zKkjeziQOokQnARAhu4AJ41uTWk7yLY0W+5MbCtJlXGKTbaYwCeL8As gv9xgN1X1SjmRyKQEA8cVKI= =LkLp -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
