You can even get 1.0 ALSA for that 2.4 kernel. Seems completely sane and
reasonable to me. I've got six of these things going now, and I'm not really
sure how to help any of you.

(Why am I bothering then, you might wonder? I'm writing an extensive tutorial
for Rosegarden, and recent user feedback has revealed that a lot of people
really need help wading through the vagaries of getting this stuff working.
So I'm trying to learn how to help people get through these prerequisites as
painlessly as possible and make some music with the thing. 2.6 kernels are
*not* looking encouraging right now.)
