Hi,
I had the same problem some time ago and it was fixed after I turned off any power management in the BIOS. There the time to go to suspend mode was set to 20min (default value). I completely turned BIOS PM off and handled that with xset at startup of X. The computer is configured to boot straight into X, so I had no need to bother with PM in console mode.
