I have tried to reinstall the kernel altogether, but the problem persists. Where else can I dig? What about the loadable modules? Can I try checking something there? How can I do it? I can just add that, although I've been using Linux for a while, I haven't looked under the hood so often, so even the basic and self-evident hints would be appreciated. :-)
