I have the exact same problem. You will find that GNOME will auto-logout after about 30 minutes with the same error. I fixed the latter problem (after months of troubleshooting) by removing Option "DPMS" from my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. It might fix the first problem as well; I don't know because with such a bad first impression I never tried KDE.
That is doing the same thing to me also
