If it is a harddisk, you must know which partition to mount: if there is only one, it is most likely /dev/hdb1. You can do this by adding a line to /etc/fstab like: /dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1 ext3 defaults,user,exec,auto 0 0 where /mnt/hdb1 is the mountpoint, ext3 is the filesystem (change to ext2 if neccesary, or to vfat if the disk is a windows disk).
