Have you checked the Debian BTS (Bug Tracking System)? 

Anyway, refresh the packages list wit "apt-get update" and try again
to install gmc. If still reports errors, try to fix it with "apt-get
-f install", but i don't know if gmc has broken dependencies at the
moment in Sarge, so you better check the BTS...
