Hi! I want to install Debian using the Debian Installer RC-2 as Netinst. My system: Athlon XP 2200+, MSI MS-6712 Mainboard (VIA VT6103 Lan Adapter), Geforce 256 Gfx, 256 MB RAM. First, I encountered, that the VIA-Rhine-driver does not work for the VIA VT6103. So I installed a Realtek-based card. This card is being detected correctly. But when the installer tries to get an IP-adresse via DHCP, it does not just take some time, but the computer hangs (I waited min. 5 minutes, soft-reset does not work). DHCP should work, I have a WLAN-Router that serves as DHCP server and gives all other computers (all Windows) in the network addresses. Then I tried using a static address using netcfg/disable_dhcp, but after I enter the information, the screen turns blank (means the normal grey and blue of the installer), then hangs. Does anyone here have any suggestions? A quick google search did not help :( Tnx Karl --------------------------------------------------------------------------- What sort of network card is it and what drivers did it end up selecting?
