In auth.log, nothing happens when I try to log in via FTP. In syslog, I get a single line:
May 5 16:11:26 lucien in.ftpd[1391]: connect from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1)
Stable/Sarge/Unstable? Also try /var/log/messages (I am not *exactly* sure where ftpd's messages are going to be coming up), also try restarting inetd (or xinetd whichever you use).
