Some time ago I have read that the teTex-version of LaTeX is a better
package than the debian one.

Can somebody tell me how to install it on a debian-system so that I
will be able to use it with emacs so that I retain the Auctex-capabilities?

I am convinced that the debian-version of LaTeX is broken in some way.
I regularly have problems running dvips and many of the features that
I read about in the documentation (like the T1 font-encoding) does not
work. Dvips and Xdvi is also very slow. I once ran "latex
testdist.dtx" and that confirmed that there was some important fonts
missing - and I had downloaded and installed everything that is
connected to LaTeX in the debian-fixed-archives.

Maybe it is time that I try a different version.
