Check if there's a line like '/usr/X11R6/lib' in the file /etc/ld.so.conf. If not, you should add it and run 'ldconfig' or 'ldconfig -v | more' for more verbose output.
This should fix the problem with libXt.so.6, at least it did for me when I installed Debian 1.2.
