Probably. I've done this on a mission critical machine with a Matrox Millenium 4MB card. Just downloaded the correct (SVGA) server from the XFREE site, and put it in /usr/local/bin. Then, I edited the Xservers file to point to this server. Everything else on the system is X 3.2.
