This is a great idea! Mind you, the only times I've had to do a complete re-install with Debian were after a security scare where I couldn't tell what may/maynot have been modified, or after a massive hardware upgrade. But for the purposes of say, building a new server that replicates an existing one I think this could be very handy. Couldn't dpkg generate a list of existing installed packages? Then a simple script could take that list and run dpkg -i on them. John -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
