Hello:

To automatically start X at boot you need to have a
symbolic link from your /etc/rc2.d to your /etc/init.d/xdm.
You have to make sure you have a /etc/init.d/xdm.

Mine is like this (use the ln command)

S99xdm -> ../init.d/xdm

Also you can use the xf86config facility and answer yes when asked
if you want to automatically start X at boot time.
