Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but...

I installed Debian 1.3 then patched gcc with the diff from the Gnu ftp
site. Now when I run 'gcc -v' gcc shows the version as 2.7.2.2 (as
expected). But when I try to install lic6-deV, dpkg returns an error to
the effect that I need gcc 2.7.2.2 or higher, and only have 2.7.2.1
installed.

What gives?

James
