use a properly created ( 1.44MB ) floppy image for creating boot.img
else it wont boot...
- or copy the boot.img and rest of the knoppix cd without
going thru the headache of mkisofs
mkisofs -b boot.img -c boot.cat ... /bin /sbin /lib /dev /root /boot ...
directories to copy to cdrom
