You need NLS to use VFAT/FAT32 support. From the error messages it seems you are trying to compile FAT support as a module (fat.o) but not NLS (nls.o) as well. With my custom kernel, in menuconfig-filesystems I have the following selected as modules (all selected = M): Native Language Support (Unicode, codepages) ... DOS FAT fs support MSDOS fs support ... VFAT (Windows 95) fs support Codepage 437 ... NLS ISO 8859-1 If you're not in US, then the last two would be different. > > > > > > > A second totally unrelated question...
