Hi, I run xdm under Debian 2.0, using the S3 server. It seems Debian enables DPMS (don't even know what it stands for ;-() by default. However, I've changed the standby, suspend and poweroff timeouts to 120, 180 and 600 seconds respectively. Now, it quite often happens that I leave the system for brief periods of time and come back to find the monitor (a Samtron) in standby/suspend mode. Is this constant switching harmful to the monitor ? Or should I increse the length of the timeouts ?
