Hi, I am running hamm, kernel 2.0.30. I have 2 hard disks, extfs partitions are hda2 and hdb1. hda2 stores all system files, linux application and user home directories. hdb2 stores DOS user files and DOS application programs.
My system crashed and hda2 could be fixed using e2fsck in automatic mode but not hdb1. hdb1 has to be fixed manually. When I access hdb2, I EXT2-fs complained about duplication of blocks in some inodes. After being up for a few minutes, kerneld panic complaining that information about free node is not consistent. I was devastated. I repartitioned second hard disk and load the data from my backup tape. But I got these error messages: EXT-fs error (device 03:41) ext2_readdir: bad entry in directory EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_find_entry: bad entry in directory #4179: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=616, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0 EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_find_entry: bad entry in directory #4179: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=616, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0 EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_readdir: bad entry in directory #4179: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=616, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0 EXT2-fs warning (device 03:02): ext2_free_inode: bit already cleared for inode 5717 EXT2-fs warning (device 03:02): ext2_free_inode: bit already cleared for inode 5716 EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_readdir: bad entry in directory #4179: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=616, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0 EXT2-fs warning (device 03:02): ext2_free_inode: bit already cleared for inode 5717 EXT2-fs warning (device 03:02): ext2_free_inode: bit already cleared for inode 5716 EXT2-fs error (device 03:41): ext2_readdir: bad entry in directory #24581: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=512, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0 EXT2-fs error (device 03:41): ext2_readdir: bad entry in directory #26629: directory entry across blocks - offset=12, inode=6149, rec_len=2036, name_len=2 EXT2-fs error (device 03:41): ext2_find_entry: bad entry in directory #26629: directory entry across blocks - offset=12, inode=6149, rec_len=2036, name_len=2 I would appreciate any comments.
