Try doing a search with your web browser - at: http://YOUR.FAVORITE.DEBIAN.MIRROR/distrib/packages or http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages and go to the section "Search the Contents of the Latest Release". This method allows you to search through packages that are no longer installed. You might like to remove the leading directories and just use the filename (or part of the filename) as some of the things placed on the disk are symbolic links etc. created by the package installer scripts.
