Logic would tell you this, but in fact 16bit and 24bit isn't very discernible from a human standpoint especially for simple photos. You graphic is very likely does not even have 65k different colors in it any way so the likely hood of you breaking that limit is slim. 24bit is best used for high end graphic shops and animation (desktop publishing, media houses..etc).
