I replaced a processor in my computer yesterday, from P120 to P166, and it worked fine all day yesterday. But when I cam e back from work today, I got this problem: Some applications seem to be working very slow. For example, telnet/ftp now take about 20 seconds to start. But when it starts, speed of connection is almost as fast as always. xterm takes forever, between 30 seconds and a minute ( Not the initial one with the X startup, but ones after that.) If I use just a plain xterm command from another console, it starts fine. But using a button in my window manager slows it down. Netscape starts up just as fast, but it takes forever now to look up the sites. X itself is delayed to start.
ANy suggestions? Andrew
