Maxtor used to (~6 months ago) distribute something called MAXBlast which sounds like what you have. I also wanted to get rid of it. I sent an e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and they referred me to a file on their web page that gave instructions for un-installing that monstrosity. It worked as advertised.
