Hello al I just notice that when I do a env I get this MACHTYPE=i486-pc-linux-gnu MAIL=/var/spool/mail/root LOGNAME=root SHLVL=1 SHELL=/bin/bash HOSTTYPE=i486 OSTYPE=linux-gnu
Why is my MACHTYPE set to i486 the reason I ask is because I have a pentium II processor and I compiled into the kenerl as such and I was wondering if I change this option will it affect my machine performance preferably a better performance
