I am in trouble updating perl 5.004 -> 5.005 in debian/potato. Currently perl 5.004 is installed together with _fake_ perl and perl-base, needed to allow upgrading to 5.005:
ii perl 5.004.05-2 Fake package used for a smooth upgrade ii perl-5.004 5.004.05-3 Larry Wall's Practical Extracting and Report ii perl-5.004-base 5.004.05-3 The Pathologically Eclectic Rubbish Lister ii perl-5.004-doc 5.004.05-3 Man pages and pod docs for Perl ii perl-base 5.004.05-1 Fake package assuring that one of the -base iU perl-5.005 5.005.03-4 Larry Wall's Practical Extracting and Report perl-base-2.005 installation fails, apparently due to conflict with just the _fake_ perl package: %% dpkg -i perl-5.005-base_5.005.03-4.deb > dpkg: regarding perl-5.005-base_5.005.03-4.deb containing perl-5.005-base: > perl-5.005-base conflicts with perl > perl (version 5.004.05-2) is installed. > dpkg: error processing perl-5.005-base_5.005.03-4.deb (--install): > conflicting packages - not installing perl-5.005-base > Errors were encountered while processing: > perl-5.005-base_5.005.03-4.deb Should i safely use the --force option in that case? thank you for your help Pol ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
