I *think* this occurs when running a 2.2.x kernel with slink, because the /etc/init.d/network script tries to add a route to the loopback interface (lo). This is not neccessary any more with a 2.2.x kernel. Look for a line starting with "route add ..." in /etc/init.d/network, comment it out and see if that helps. >2. [...] >3.
