ssh stopped working

I had a functional ssh (potato/ppc), but now it has stopped
working. The error message I get is
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
when I try to connect to the same hosts as before. I have no idea why.
(ssh is already purged and reinstalled.)
