Hello; some time ago I began to look for a good driver for my Epson Stylus Color 850. After some time, I found a nice new driver (the Gimp-Print). Dithering is really good, quality is close to that of the Epson driver. Also, for a few printers, it seems that it'll do some tricks to print at a higher resolution than the supposed maximum (The Epson 850 goes from 1440x720 to 2880x720!) But it will pring images only (a ghostscript driver is also being developed).
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/ It's still under development, but I think there's a stable version (I'm using the CVS version, and it's working just fine). By the way...
