Hi there, This sounds like the Adaptec 2940 problem with some early cards and the number of SCSI drivers in the boot disks. Do you have a 2940 card? There were some boot disks around that fixed this problem, unfortunately I can't remember where they were. Perhaps others can tell you. I have a set at home so I'll look up the URL and let you know.
