Firstly, is there a package for netscape 4 (the program - I can only find the base files on my cds) around?
More importantly, I am having problems with configuring ppp - my /var/log/messages file shows this: Aug 27 00:51:30 is pppd[1498]: pppd 2.3.11 started by root, uid 0 Aug 27 00:51:30 is pppd[1498]: Using interface ppp0 Aug 27 00:51:30 is pppd[1498]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS1 Aug 27 00:52:00 is pppd[1498]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests Aug 27 00:52:00 is pppd[1498]: Connection terminated. Aug 27 00:52:00 is pppd[1498]: Receive serial link is not 8-bit clean: Aug 27 00:52:00 is pppd[1498]: Problem: all had bit 7 set to 0 Aug 27 00:52:00 is pppd[1498]: Exit. Everything worked OK under redhat6.1 Any ideas where the problem might lie? Another unrelated problem - My harddrive seems to have a habit of pausing for a few seconds every now and again (originally every half hour or so, but seems to be happening more and more frequently now) - error msg given to the console and /var/log/messages is: Aug 27 08:40:43 is kernel: hda: timeout waiting for DMA Aug 27 08:40:43 is kernel: hda: irq timeout: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } This started b4 I installed debian - is my HD on the way out or a misconfiguration problem? ciao vik [EMAIL PROTECTED] <http://www.progsoc.org/~vik> PGP: <http://www.progsoc.org/~vik/pgp.txt> There is only one difference between a madman and me.
