Yeah, I actually did that before I received this email, but after I asked the original question. It works fine, as expected. Now, of course, I'm left wondering *why* is this the case? I truly made *no* BIOS changes. I had beed using boot=/dev/sda for over a year with no problems at all. It's just when I added a new network card that this happened. I suppose it's more a mater of curiosity at this point than anything else, since boot=/dev/hda works. It's still very weird, though. noah _______________________________________________________ | Web: http://web.morgul.net/~frodo/ | PGP Public Key: http://web.morgul.net/~frodo/mail.html -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 5.0i for non-commercial use Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBObrFjodCcpBjGWoFAQFiPgP/erWWw4qdf2dnSYLzFIVEA56c5s+roR8O dAJbHZ5TIa82kbIgpWoL++Bm400ObPL7sEHX/RMMyT6OA8e6ZXpXLApU3kee64CN QZH9Zj9gnI9AWOPZv/7iCs7qvPYqHQV4MAY9XUsY6GRqd111XLe4WMWSHjLOY2Ys JhTMucIjPxE= =i4HR -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
