I think it just means that if there were any errors, they wouldn't be fatal. I actually had an xkbcomp error recently (tried to use a non-existing key map), but lo and behold, it wasn't fatal (just disabled my backspace key). So I think as long as you don't get any actual error message, you can ignore this.
