All, I have a new Sony Vaio Z505LS, which I have gotten Debian installed on. Everything works, except one thing: when I boot, the system loads the sound card modules before the Ethernet card modules, and the sound card "steals" the Ethernet's IRQ. This does not happen if I load the Ethernet card first. I can easily frankenstein into the init scripts the functionality that the Ethernet card gets loaded first, but I would rather know the "Debian way" of doing this correctly. I'm guessing it has something to do with the /etc/modules.conf setup?
Btw, if anyone is interested in how I got Debian installed on this laptop,
I'd be happy to write it up. The USB floppy drive makes for an interesting
install, given that Debian likes a Rescue and a Root floppy, and the kernel
on the Rescue floppy doesn't speak USB...
