I've never had problems with pppd, but now I can't log into the Net anymore! I have not changed my conf files. The first time I execute pppd, I get the connection, but the modem hangs in 3 seconds 8^( and this happens with every provider I have tried. The second time I try, I get this message on the terminal:
Mon Jan 8 18:49:06 $ /usr/sbin/pppd -detach connect "/usr/sbin/chat -V -f /etc/ppp/interfree.chat"
OK ala alanamalat, 06 Jan 2001 19:49:51 +0100 ERRORConnect script failed The third time is as the first one and the forth is as the second and so on! The message is strange, isn't it? It reports a date: 6 jan 2001, 19:49:51 I wasn't online at that time, but the problem began the next time I tried to connect...before that date all was ok! I have recompiled the kernel, reinstalled the ppp packet, but no results... What do you think? I have a generic 56k modem and this is the file /etc/ppp/option I use: lock defaultroute noipdefault modem /dev/modem 115200 crtscts passive asyncmap 0 # Per utilizzare i DNS trasmessi dinamicamente dal provider #usepeerdns # I pacchetti trasmessi e ricevuti sono al + di 552 bytes #mtu 552 #mru 552 # Nome-utente che ho sull'ISP name "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" #interfree This is the /etc/ppp/interfree.chat file: TIMEOUT 60 ABORT ERROR ABORT BUSY ABORT "NO CARRIER" ABORT "NO DIALTONE" "" "ATZ" OK "ATM0L0" OK "ATDT0112751010" TIMEOUT 75 CONNECT Cheers
