It's possible to customize sendmail messages. When you add: define(`confSMTP_LOGIN_MSG',`Welcome to our mailserver') to your sendmail.mc, rebuild your sendmail.cf and restart sendmail. You'll get "Welcome to our mailserver" as sendmail's greeting message.
