FWIW, mutt doesn't have a built-in editor. Instead it uses the editor specified in the $editor variable in .muttrc. If you did not set $editor, it defaults to the content of the EDITOR environment variable of your shell or to whatever "/usr/bin/editor" is a symlink to (on potato it is "nvi"). chris
